In "writing the operating system by yourself", some important choices during the installation of Red Hat 9.0 are illustrated and selected, the figure below shows the entire process of installing Red Hat 9.0 by myself. Because I only want it to complete the functions mentioned in this book, the entire installation process is very simple. I will select next, and I will describe part of the selection in detail as I learn about Linux, for now, just try again!

1. Select the installation method: [enter] in graphical mode | Linux text [enter] in text mode

We recommend that you select in graphical mode, because we will have a more perceptual knowledge of some items in the graph and it is easy to understand.

2. Check whether to install the disk before installation. Generally, select Skip.

3. It is just an interface for installation. press Alt + n to go to the next step.

4. Which language will you use during installation? I like to use English. I don't want to pretend to be forced. It is necessary to internationalize. I really don't understand some translation. So Alt + n

5. select a suitable keyboard for your operating system? Generally, we chose U. S. English, so we directly Alt + N.

6. Select a proper mouse type for your system? I chose the wheel mouse (PS/2), which does not affect the result if you install it on the VM. So I will directly Alt + n. We suggest you choose based on your mouse type.

7. Select your installation type. here we need to select Custom. As for the difference between 4, I still don't understand it. I will describe it here after learning it. After custom is selected, ALT + n

8. Can I select automatic or manual partitioning? For the sake of simplicity, I still use automatic partition because I have not yet understood the manual partition process.

9. automatic partitioning may overwrite the data on the previous hard disk. Do you want to continue? At that time, we had to choose to continue. Yes

10. There are three options: 1. Remove all Linux partitions on the system; 2. Remove all partitions on the system; 3. retain all partitions and use the remaining space. If I select 1 and press Alt + n, a dialog box will pop up asking if you want to continue. We still need to select YES.

11. The following is a big Alt + n. The process is not fully understood yet.

12. Which of the following is the default system language? Needless to say, it is generally English (USA ).

13. Select the system time zone. Select based on your location.

14. Enter the root password. For example, zgh1988 indicates that the root user is the user with the highest permissions.

15. I do not know what this means. Alt + N directly, it seems like the encryption method.

16. The following is the selection in the book. You need to select Windows File Server development tools NASM System Tools and then enter the installation process.

The meaning of many installation processes is not very clear, so we chose the default method. We may gradually learn about these functions as needed. If you understand it, you will make up it a little bit!
