Configure site set quotas and locks

If you use Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services in a large environment, such as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a huge Intranet, you need to have the ability to control the resources of your server, and also need to carefully monitor the storage space and site security. you must be able to ensure that a site set does not occupy too many resources, resulting in other site sets not working properly. windows SharePoint Services allows you to specify the quota (quota) of the site set so that you can manage your site and server resources.

 

You can specify quota for the following item:

• StorageWhen you set quota for storage, there are two values for you to choose from: a warning value and a maximum value. when the site set exceeds the warning value, the site administrator and the site owner will receive an email indicating that the site is close to their storage quota. when the site reaches the maximum storage space limit, it will also send an email, and no new content will be added to the site.

Note: The reported quota value does not exactly match the size stored in the database. this is because the quota feature will estimate the number of storage values, including empty sites, sites that do not contain any user content, and the actual storage content in the database. the estimated empty site will include the size of the template page, which is stored in the _ layouts directory.

• UsersIn the Active Directory Account creation mode, you have the ability to limit the number of users that a single site set can be added to the Microsoft Active Directory Service. when you set quota on the user account, you only specify the maximum. when the maximum limit is reached, other user accounts cannot be added to the site set unless a user is deleted.

Quota and lock are two methods to control site set access. by using lock, you can manually block user access. with quota, you can prevent users from adding content to the site, or when the site size exceeds the specified threshold ([MB] in MB, send an email warning to the site set administrator.
