Currently, mainstream streaming Media systems include RealMedia of RealNetworks, Media Player of Microsoft, and QuickTime of Apple. realNetworks's Helix Universal Server supports a large number of users, including unicast, multicast, and multi-platform (including Linux, Windows 2000/NT, AIX, Solaris, and Mac OS ). helix Serve provides you with complete content publishing solutions, AD management, user authentication, and support for various extensions such as WEB access. supports distribution of Media files in RealMedia, Windows Media, Quicktime, and MPEG 4 file formats. as an excellent streaming media publishing platform, it can meet the diversified requirements of enterprise users and service providers.
Today, I want to talk about how to configure helix on RHAS3 and hope to help anyone who has the same requirements.
I. Preparations
1.download helix9.0.rar (install the required files, you can download the http://www.realnetworks.com on the official website)
2.download helix_cn.rar (file required for localization)
Or search for the software on a Chinese website.
Ii. System Requirements
1. Hardware: CPU Pentium 2 MHz or above, memory 128 MB, hard disk space 600 MB, OSS/Linux compatible sound card, 16 MB memory
2. Software: Kernel 2.4 or above
Iii. Installation
1. Log On As root or switch to root (su-root enters the root password)
2. decompress the downloaded Installation File

If you confirm the settings are correct, you can press the F key to agree and start the installation.

3. Start and test the service
1. cd/data/helix
2. Bin/rmserver. cfg & (run this service in the background)
There will be a lot of prompts, and then the startup is successful.
3. open mozilla and enter http: // localhost: 14453/admin/index.html for testing. A window appears asking you to enter the administrator username and password you set during installation, enter the correct Administrator name and password to go to the Management page. Since we have already finished Chinese, the interface is very friendly and we will not talk about it more here.
4. Integrate with apache to create a demo page.
Because the web server provided by helix is not very flexible, I used a virtual host with apache for testing.
