The system automatically runs the Configure Server program after Windows 2000 installation finishes restarting the system.
Active Directory configuration (Active Directory)
Active Directory is the basis of management, only after the directory service has been configured for administrators to set up and manage with accounts, groups.
In the Windows 2000 Configuration Server window, click Active Directory, click Start, start the Active Directory Installation Wizard, click Next, eject the Domain Controller Type dialog box, select New domain controller, click Next, select Create a new domain forest in the Create or join a forest window. Click Next, and in the DNS full name for new domain text box, enter the domain name, for example: cqdx.org, click Next, and wait for a period of time, in the Domain NetBIOS Name text box, enter the recognized domain name, For example: Cetc, click "Next"; the database and log File location settings box appears, you can set the default path, click Next, continue with the installation, keep the shared system volume location unchanged, click Next, and a server that cannot connect to DNS with ' cqdx.org ' appears. prompt, click OK; Select Yes, install and configure DNS on this computer, click Next, go to the DNS Permissions setting, select compatible permissions prior to the Windows2000 server, click Next, and enter the administrator password for directory service recovery mode. Click Next, at which point the summary information appears, and if everything is OK, click Next; the system will configure Active Directory, depending on your choice, after a few minutes or so, after the installation is complete, and after clicking Restart Now, the specified Active Directory is established.
Server Demotion Configuration
After the Active Directory is installed, not only does the server's power-on and shutdown time become longer, but the system slows down, so if the user does not specifically require a server or does not use it as a domain controller, the Active Directory on that server can be removed and demoted to a stand-alone server.
The specific steps are as follows:
Click the Start, Run button, eject the Run dialog box, type dcpromo in the Open Drop-down list box, click OK--> the Active Directory Removal Wizard window pops up, click Next, and in the delete active Directory window selected "This server is the last domain controller in the domain", click Next, pop-up the Network Credentials window, enter a password in the Password text box (password to establish the Active Directory) in the username yjq01, enter cqdx.org in the field, and click Next, eject the Administrator Password window, and enter the password (previous) in the Password and Confirm Password text boxes. Click Next, the summary information appears, and if everything is OK, click Next; the system will delete the Active Directory according to your selections, after a few minutes, delete the end; Completing the Active Directory Demotion wizard window, click Finish to complete the deletion of the Active Directory. Restarting the computer, deleting the Active Directory takes effect, and the server has become a stand-alone server.
Configuration of domain name server DNS
Click Start-> Administrative Tools-> Configure Server-> "Networking"-> "DNS"-> "Management" DNS to start the DNS management interface
If you do not configure the Active Directory, click Yjq01, and then select Expand Branch Number "+" in front of forward search area, right-click Forward lookup zone, new zone, in the New Zone Guide window, click Next, and in the Zone Type window, select Standard primary area, click Next, enter "Cqdx.org" in name in the zone name, click Next, eject the Regional Files window, leave the settings unchanged, click Next, and in the Completing the New Zone Wizard, click Finish. And then continue the configuration.
If the Active Directory is configured, click the extended branch Number "+" in front of "yjq01", "Forward lookup zone", "cqdx.org", expand the sub-directory under Cqdx.org, right-click cqdx.org, click New Host in the pop-up menu, and the new host window, enter host name and IP address in turn, host name: WWW, IP address is 192.168.0.1 (Figure 1). Then click the "Add Host" button, and then add three hosts, respectively: FTP, mail, news IP address are: 192.168.0.1. After the above setup, we have established four hosts, the corresponding domain name is:
www.cqdx.org for Internal Home page services
ftp.cqdx.org for file Transfer services
Mail.cqdx.org for internal e-mail systems
News.cqdx.org for internal newsgroups

Right-click Reverse Lookup Zone. Then click New Zone, click Next in the Welcome to the New Zone wizard window, show the Zone Type window, select Active Directory integrated zones, click Next, and in the Reverse Lookup zone window, select Network ID, and type 192.168.0, click Next, and in the Completing the New Zone Wizard window, click Finish. At this point, the domain name Server DNS configuration is complete.
Configuration of the DHCP server (this step can be omitted if you specify an IP address on the workstation)
Similar to configuring DNS, open the DHCP server configuration interface Click Open to appear in the DHCP management interface. Right-click the server name, click New Scope in the menu that pops up, click Next when the New Action Wizard appears, or enter a name in the name of the role name, click Next, enter the range of IP addresses, for example: 192.168.0.1--192.168.0.254, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, click Next, and in add exclusion, do not enter any information, click Next, and in lease duration, Click Next when you set the default value. Select Yes, I want to configure these options now, click Next, and in the router (default gateway), set the IP address to 192.168.0.1, click Add, click Next, and in parent domain, enter "cqdx.org", Server name Enter "Yjq01", click "Resolve", pop 192.168.0.1 in IP address, click Add, and then click Next; Select "Wins Server", enter server name: yjq01, click "Resolve", in "IP address" Pop 192.168.0.1à "Add"-> "Next"; "Yes, I want to activate this scope now"-> "Next"-> "Finish".
