Confluence 6 using a WebDAV client to manipulate the page

The following section shows you how to set up a native WebDAV client in a different system, which is typically displayed in your operating system's file browser, such as Windows Explorer or Linux Konqueror.

Access confluence in Mac OSX Finder

You can connect successfully, but you can't see the content while using HTTPS. For confluence Cloud, you can't use the Mac OSX Finder to access WebDAV, which you can access using a third-party WebDAV client.

How to use the Finder to view and manage confluence content:

    1. Select Enter (GO) > Connect to the server (connect to server) in the Finder

    2. Enter a URL in the following format:

      http: //<confluenceurl>/plugins/servlet/confluence/ Default

For the example above, your confluence URL is http://ourconfluen Ce.atlassian.net/wiki , you need to enter the following:

      http: //ourconfluence.atlassian.net/wiki/plugins/servlet/ Confluence/default
    3. Enter your confluence user name and password, and then click Connect

Used user name (jsmith), do not use your e-mail address unless you are using an e-mail address as your user name.

The confluence will be displayed in the Finder's share directory. You can use the same URL to connect a confluence instance to a third-party client, such as Cyberduck.

Accessing confluence with Explorer in Microsoft Windows

In this section we have the following 2 ways to configure your Microsoft Windows access WebDAV client:

    • Through a network drive

    • Through a Web folder

If possible, using a network-driven approach can provide more functionality and are more comprehensive than the way Web folders are used. However, your confluence installation instance must meet some specific requirements to be able to access using a network-driven approach. If you configure a confluence installation instance that does not meet the requirements for accessing confluence content using a network drive, you can use the Web folder method or a third-party WebDAV client.

If you use SSL, you need to @SSL add the parameter configuration to the URL of your server, for example:

http://<confluence server url>@SSL/confluence/plugins/servlet/confluence/default

If you encounter any problems while configuring, refer to the content on the WebDAV troubleshooting page.

Windows Network Drive

In order to map the confluence WebDAV client to a network drive, your confluence installation instance must meet all of the following configuration requirements:

    • Root without contexts (context root)

    • If you have a configuration that prevents you from successfully configuring when you are mapping to a network driver, you can configure the network Folders by using the following steps.

These limitations are due to limitations of Microsoft's mini-redirector components. For more questions, refer to Microsoft's Server discovery issue.

To map the WebDAV client network in Microsoft Window:

    1. In Window XP, go to My computer -> Tools menu -> Map Network Drive
In Windows Vista, go to computer -> Map Network Drive

    2. Specify the following 2 configuration parameters to map a WebDAV client:

      • Drive : <Any drive letter> (For example, Z:)

      • Folder: \\ (e.g. \\localhost\webdav )

    3. Click Finish (Finish)

When you need to enter Confluence login information, enter your confluence username and password.

Windows Web Folders

You want to map a WebDAV client to a Web folder in Microsoft Windows XP:

    1. Go to My network Places then select Add a network place and click Next

    2. Make sure that the Choose another network location is selected, and then click Next to continue

    3. In the ' Internet or network address ' field, enter the URL path for the confluence WebDAV (for example, http://<confluence server url>/confluence/plugins/servlet/confluence/default or http://<confluence server url>/plugins/servlet/confluence/default ) and click Next

    4. If your confluence user name and password

    5. Provide a meaningful name for your Web folder

    6. Click Finish (Finish)

Screen: A confluence WebDAV client Web folder in Windows XP

You want to map a WebDAV client to a Web folder in Microsoft Window Vista:
The process of mapping in Vista is very similar to the XP mapping process. Then the interface is a bit different from XP:

    1. Open the ' Map Network Drive ' dialog box (refer to the steps above for mapping the networked drives) and select ' Connect to a Web site ' so you can use the tostore your documents and P Ictures'

    2. Click 'Next'

    3. Enter the selected Choose a custom network location, and click Next to continue

    4. In the ' Internet or network address ' field, enter the URL path for the confluence WebDAV (for example, http://<confluence server url>/confluence/plugins/servlet/confluence/default or http://<confluence server url>/plugins/servlet/confluence/default ) and click Next

    5. Enter your confluence username and password

    6. Provide a meaningful name for your Web folder

    7. Click Finish (Finish)

To set up a WebDAV client in Linux or Solaris

There are many tools in these 2 operating systems that can be used to configure WebDAV clients. Therefore, we use Konqueror to manage this, which is part of the K-Desktop environment.

To set up the Confluence WebDAV client in Konqueror:

    1. Open Konqueror

    2. In the ' Location ' field, enter the position of the confluence WebDAV, use ' protocol ' for webdavs (for example, http://<confluence server url>/confluence/plugins/servlet/confluence/default or http://<confluence server url>/plugins/servlet/confluence/default ), and then click Enter ( Enter ).

    3. If a dialog box pops up, enter your confluence username and password

You should be able to click to load many files, but will not load all the files. Under normal circumstances, you should save the modified folder locally, and then drag it to the Konqueror window to upload to confluence.
