Connect Amazon cloud Servers in Windows

To connect to your Linux instance using PuTTY, follow these steps:

1. Obtain the server's access key (that is, the *.pem file) in the AWS Web Console and save it locally, and set the inbound SSH traffic allowed from the specified IP address to the instance.

2. Download the putty and puttygen two programs, download the Windows installation package, and install the putty.

3. Since Putty does not support private key types, it is necessary to convert with Puttygen, as follows:

• Open the Puttygen program and click "Load" to select the first step to get the. pem file, if not visible, select all files below.
• Select Pem file, click "Open", jump out of a window, direct "OK"
• Click "Saveprivatekey" to save the private key file, click "Yes"

4. Connect your Amazon EC2 instance with the key file generated in the previous step.

• Start PuTTY (on the Start menu, click All Programs > PuTTY > PuTTY).

• In the category pane, select Session and fill in the following fields:
  • In the Host Name box, enter [email protected]_dns_name or [email protected]_ip] (EC2 instance for Ubuntu username "[email protected]").
  • Under Connection type (connection type), select SSH. Make sure that port (ports) is 22.

• In the Category pane, expand Connection (Connect), expand SSH, and then select Auth (Authentication). Complete the following actions:
  • Click Browse.
  • Select the. ppk file that you generated for the key pair, and then click Open.
  • Click Open to start the PuTTY session. If this is the first time you are connected to this instance, PuTTY displays a security warning dialog box asking if you trust the host you want to connect to. Click Yes (yes). A window opens and you are connected to your instance.
