Convert the browser into FTP software

Here, we will briefly explain that the string means "connecting to the www.vpidc.com server as xxxxxx using the FTP transfer protocol. In this case, you do not have to worry about setting FTP ports such as 21. After you press enter, the Login Dialog Box shown in Figure 1 is displayed immediately. In the Password text box, write your FTP account password, after confirming, you can log on to the FTP space.
As shown in figure 2, the remote server interface is not Internet Explorer, but similar to the Windows resource manager. Although it is the same as the local common method for copying and cutting files, however, the interface is different from the resource manager at this time. If you right-click and verify that the shortcut menu is displayed. Some servers that provide FTP space have a limited response time, if you do not upload or download files within a certain period of time, the connection will be disconnected. In this case, you can select the "login" menu item in the shortcut menu to reconnect, and this menu item is not available in the common Windows Resource Manager. In addition, if you need to upload a file or folder on the local hard disk to the remote server, you just need to drag it with the mouse into the window shown in figure 2, just like local operations, the method for downloading remote files is similar. In addition, if you integrate software such as "Network ant" or "audio and video conveyor belt" in IE, the consequence of double-clicking the suffix of the monitored file on the remote server is to start the software download, this allows you to perform operations such as resumable data transfer.
In fact, FTP applications such as IE are very similar to some FTP download resource site operations, but the current HTTP interface download has become mainstream, relatively speaking, FTP download interfaces are not user-friendly and intuitive. Therefore, this form of download is generally only common on some professional websites or local networks. In terms of form, the login string of the FTP software modified by IE only requires a user name and @ symbol more than the regular FTP download URL input. In addition, if you do not want to make the Password dialog box shown in Figure 1 appear, you can try to enter ftp: // xxxxxx: abcdefghij@www.vpidc.com in the address bar of IE, abcdefghij is the password of your FTP account. Press enter to display the operation interface shown in figure 2.
2. Notes
Although the FTP transmission of IE is simple and intuitive, you must pay attention to security issues. In theory, this operation is also a regular Internet Explorer, so by default, Cookies are stored on local hard disks. If you perform this FTP operation in public places such as Internet cafes, it is dangerous to delete the IE cache before it is down. For the same reason, if you select the "Save Password" check box in the password logon box shown in figure 1, remember to delete the IE password cache after logging out!
In addition, for the FTP server you log on to, you can add it to the IE favorites like a normal URL, But what you "add to Favorites" is the FTP server address, for example, www.vpidc.com, it does not involve the specific user name and password of the account, so you cannot log on through the content in the favorites folder. If you connect directly, the error message box shown in Figure 3 appears, however, in the message box, you can detect the software used by the other party to set up an FTP server. If you try to manually add addresses such as ftp: // xxxxxx: abcdefghij@www.vpidc.com to favorites, IE rejects execution because it contains invalid characters. But at the same time, if you open "Network Neighbor", you will find that a connection is automatically established with the FTP server address as the name, and try to double-click this icon, you will find that you can achieve the same effect of entering ftp: // xxxxxx@www.vpidc.com In the IE Address Bar-now you have a network hard disk that can be easily accessed! However, in public, this "Neighbor" should be deleted to ensure security.
In addition, sometimes FTP login in IE may fail to connect, or even if the connection is successful, the desired interface cannot appear. After excluding the other server, you should check the local IE settings-in the "advanced" tab of the IE "Internet Options" menu, make sure that the "enable folder view for FTP site" status has been activated, which is the key setting for IE to "act as FTP software"
