Recently, IBM has signed a pilot contract with the U.S. Air Force to Establish a cloud computing system capable of securely supporting defense and intelligence networks for the latter, the goal is to better ensure the military's network security. This is the first time that cloud computing has entered the military field with high popularity in recent years. Mainstream American media such as business weekly and San Francisco Chronicle have reported this.

IBM has signed a pilot contract with the U.S. Air Force to Establish a cloud computing system that securely supports defense and intelligence networks for the latter. The advantages of cloud computing will eventually fall to a very practical point to save money. It is a relatively ideal choice for the US military, which is plagued by budget overspending.

IBM said the contract lasted for 10 months. IBM needed to use cloud computing technology to analyze thousands of data streams in real time to detect and defend against malicious attacks and system faults, the Air Force will assign technical personnel to supervise the whole process. IBM faces many unprecedented challenges as the military imposes high security requirements on network operations. Chief Technology Officer Mike kuili said IBM will install more sensors, monitors and other detection devices in the cloud computing process, they will allow more powerful network packet analysis.

IBM's secure cloud computing model is highly autonomous and constantly adjusts itself to optimize performance without manual intervention. In 10 months, IBM will provide the military with specific application cases and basic designs to meet military needs. Air Force technicians will review the test results and decide whether to continue implementing cloud computing projects based on IBM's research results. Mike kuili believes that for security reasons, the military is likely to choose a dedicated cloud computing model.

This project involves military and civil researchers, software designers, analysis experts, network security experts and other federal agencies. IBM has not disclosed the value and specific terms of the contract. The u. S. Air Force kept a low profile and declined to interview.

Cloud computing is a new way to share the infrastructure. It can connect countless computers to provide various IT services. Cloud computing is seen by supporters as a revolutionary computing model, because it makes it possible for super computing capabilities to flow freely through the Internet. Enterprises and individual users do not need to pay high hardware purchase costs. They only need to purchase or lease computing power over the Internet, and use your computer as an access port. Everything is handed over to Internet cafes.

Simply put, the advantages of cloud computing will eventually fall into a very practical point to save money. Despite the wealth of the US Air Force, but many new technology, new product budget overspending is still very serious, F-22, F-35 and other aircraft are therefore cut or postponed, so that the military can not afford. In the increasingly complex network environment, the US military must invest more in network security, which often involves expensive hardware updates. Compared with traditional methods, the efficiency and flexibility of cloud computing can provide better security at a lower cost, which is also the main reason why the US military prefers cloud computing.
