When IIS Server 4.0 is successfully installed, a default Web site is automatically created in MMC. If you want to create a new Web site, first click the host name of the site with the mouse, we assume it is e40, right-click it, select Add> Web site in the pop-up menu, and enter the following content in sequence according to the creation Wizard:
● IIS server Web site description: The name of the newly created Web site.
● IP address and port number: the default port number of the IIS server Web service is 80, but the default Web site will use this port number. We can change the port number to avoid conflict with the ports of other sites.
● Main directory: Each IIS server Web site or FTP site must have a main directory. The main directory is the central location of the published file, which is mapped to the domain name or server name of the site. For example, if the host server name is e40 in the Intranet, enter http: // e40 in the URL of the browser to access the default page file in the home directory.
● Access permission: users can be limited to access this Web site, including reading, writing, and viewing directories. If you can set the browsing directory, the user will see a list of all the files in the main directory in the browser. This is very secure. We recommend that you do not give this permission easily.
After the operation is complete, a new IIS server Web site will be generated in MMC. Right-click a Web site and select Properties From the shortcut menu. The Web site Properties dialog box is displayed. It mainly includes the following property pages:
● IIS Server Web site: sets the Web site ID, connection, and log information, including site description, IP address, port number, restrictions on the number of connected users, and whether to enable logs.
● Main directory: Specifies the main directory of the Web site of the IIS server and its access permissions, such as reading, writing, and viewing directories ).
● Document: You can choose whether to enable the default document. If this option is enabled, the default document will be displayed to the user when a browser request does not include a specific HTML file name. The default document is generally a page file in the main directory. You can also specify multiple default documents in the form of comma separated lists. The Web server searches for the default document in the directory according to the list name order, returns the first found document.
For example, we set the default main directory of the IIS server Web site to c: \ InetPub \ hosts, the server host name to e40, And the URL to http: // e40in the browser. In this case, the user will access the default.htm page, the input URL is http: // e40/default.htm.
● OPERATOR: Specifies which NT users can manage the Web site.
● Performance: You can specify the maximum bandwidth occupied by the Web site of the IIS server. In addition, you can adjust the storage space of the server based on the access traffic of the Web site.
● Directory Security: sets the security features of the Web server of the IIS server, including Web Server Authentication and anonymous access, so that the user's identity can be confirmed before access to restricted content; create an SSL Key; restrict IP addresses and domain names to allow or prevent some users, computers, or domains from accessing the Web site, directory, or file.
● ISAPI filtering program: sets the ISAPI filtering program options. The ISAPI filtering program is a program that responds to events during HTTP request processing.
● HTTP title: set the value returned to the browser in the title of the HTML page.
● Custom error: defines the information returned to the browser when an error occurs.
