In step 1th, open the Word2010 document window and switch to the Insert Ribbon. Click the formula button (not the Formula Drop-down button) in the symbol group, as shown in Figure 1.

Step 2nd, create a blank formula frame in the Word2010 document, and in the formula Tools/Design Ribbon, click the parentheses button in the structure group. Brackets, delimited brackets, square brackets, cases, and stacks are displayed in the open Bracket structure list. Select the appropriate bracket form as needed, as shown in Figure 2.

Step 3rd, insert the bracket structure in a blank formula frame, click the Placeholder box and enter a specific value, as shown in Figure 3.

Tip: There are a number of commonly used bracket instances, such as "two-item coefficients", that are built into the bracket structure provided by Word2010. Users can select these bracket instances directly as needed, as shown in Figure 4.
