In This tutorial, we will create an expressionless face in a dark surreal landscape.
We will learn how to use simple pictures to create surreal scenes in Photoshop and get some inspiration from them.
As you step through this tutorial, we'll learn how to add emotional factors to the scene, increase the sense of light, and sharpen your picture correctly.
Let's take a look at our final results:
1th Step:
First, create a new document (CTRL + N) with a size of 1370 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high.
2nd Step:
Open the stone House picture in the document. Use the Free Transform tool (ctrl+t) to resize the picture.
Because of the height-to-width ratio, there will be a blank area above. To cover this area, first we use the Rectangular Marquee tool to select the upper area of the stone House picture. Use CTRL + T to stretch the top border to cover the full blank area.
3rd Step:
In another document, open the iron Net picture in the material, we will use this kind of picture as the color matching reference picture later.
Now go back to the picture (I named " homesickness "). First of all, we will adjust the color of the stone house picture based on the iron net picture. Select the stone House picture , then perform the image > Adjust > Match colors , match the "source" selection of the Iron net picture, as shown in the following figure. Here's an explanation: our aim is to match the color of the stone house layer in the "homesickness" PSD file to the color of the iron net picture.
4th Step:
There is a big stone in front of the stone house that is very unpleasant, we try to get rid of it. Select the clone Stamp tool Press the ALT key to select the surrounding lawn to coat the stone.
Final effect:
5th step:
In this step we add a human face to the scene. Download and open the face image and use the Pen tool (or other familiar selection tool) to pull the face out of the background.
6th step:
Add the person's face to the stone house scene, ctrl+t adjust to the size you think fit, and adjust the angle, put the position.
Like the 3rd step, the color of the face layer is matched to the hue of the Iron net picture (if you have not yet turned off the iron net picture in PS), finally choose the Dodge Tool and use the lower exposure to artificially add some high light to the face layer.
7th step:
Next, drag the iron net picture to the scene, put it above the face layer, the same ctrl+t adjust the angle and position. Add a layer mask to the iron mesh layer and smear the unwanted place on the mask with a black soft brush.
Use the same method to add an iron net behind it.
8th step:
Add the old iron mesh to the scene and set the blending mode of the layer to soft light .
Ctrl+j The old iron net to a layer and dragged it to other areas of the human face. Adjust the size and position according to your needs.
9th step:
Now add some architectural elements to the human face. Here we will use the picture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa . Select a part of the oblique tower, remove some areas, so that it looks dilapidated, the same color to match the color of the net, if it is still a little bright, you can ctrl+u adjust the brightness and saturation , so that its integration into the scene.
Add the part of the tower that falls off below.
10th Step:
Next, create a new group of all layers (except the stone and background layers) and add a mask (CS6 new feature) to the group to make the face and the stone house better integrated.
11th Step:
Create a new layer at the top of the layer (ctrl+shift+n), with a very soft brush, adjust opacity to 15%, color white, paint in areas that need to be highlighted, and then adjust the layer blending mode to overlay .
12th Step:
To create a new layer, this time use a black brush to draw in areas that need to be darkened, and adjust the layer blending mode to overlay .
13th Step:
Next, add the characters to the scene. Download and open the old man 's picture and add the character to the scene with the pen tool or other selection tool. Ctrl+t flip horizontally and adjust the size and position.
14th Step:
Create a new layer above the character layer, press the ALT key to create a clipping mask , and draw a dark area on the left side of the character with a black brush to make the character more stereoscopic.
15th Step:
Next, create a shadow for the character. Ctrl+j the character to a layer, install CTRL and click on the layer thumbnail to create a selection and fill it with black. Name it shadow, drag this layer below the old man layer, ctrl+t adjust the angle. Set the opacity to 40% .
16th Step:
The scene has been basically built, and then adjusts the hue according to your personal preferences.
This step is to adjust the brightness and contrast of the image. Press Q to enter the quick Mask , with the brush will not need to adjust the area to hide, and then press Q to exit the quick mask, and then add a brightness/contrast adjustment layer , the value can be set according to their preferences.
17th Step:
Next, add a natural saturation adjustment layer . The following figure sets the value and adjusts the layer opacity to 55% .
18th Step:
In this step we will build the dark area. Enter the quick mask, with a brush to hide areas that you don't need to adjust (the red area in the figure), add a curve adjustment layer , set the parameters below, and adjust the layer opacity to 80% . Similarly adjusts brightness and contrast again.
19th step:
Then adjust the color balance for the scene.
20th step:
Next, add some light to the window of the stone house. Create a new layer, fill it with black, and set the layer blending mode to bright , drawing lights in the window area with a white brush.
21st Step:
The image is then sharpened .
Create a stamped layer (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+E) to perform filters > Other > High-contrast reservations .
Sets the layer blending mode of the stamped layer to overlay .
