CSS Basics-Layout properties

Display Properties: Sets whether the element is displayed and how it is displayed.

Value: None: Hides the object. Unlike the value of the Visibility property hidden , it does not retain its physical space for objects that are hidden

If display set to none , the float and position attribute definitions will not take effect;

Inline: Specifies that the object is an inline element.

The inline element cannot set width and height.

Block: Specifies that the object is a block element.

The block element cannot be displayed in the same row.

Inline-block: Specifies that the object is an inline block element. (CSS2)

Inline-block: With inline display in line, block can set width and height.
