You can view the log file status in the v $ log view.

The following statuses are available: current/active/inactive/unused

Current: The current log file, which is active and currently in use. The current log file is required for crash recovery.

Active: the non-current log of the activity. The log may have been archived or not archived. The active log file will be used for crash recovery.

Inactive: indicates an inactive log. This log is no longer required when the instance is restored, but may be used when the media is restored. Inactive logs may not be archived. If the database is in archive mode, Log files cannot be overwritten before Archiving is completed, and the active process will be waiting in Log File Switch (Archiving Needed.

Unused: Logs have never been written. Such Logs may have been added to the database or Reset after the Reset Logs. This status is changed after being used.
