Background]
Data in the format of "9-jun14" must be converted when it is saved to the date format field. However, an error "invalid month" is reported for a standard date.
[Solution]
After inspection, we found that the problem was not about the date, but about the system language. The English date cannot be identified in the operating system. So use the NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE parameter to regulate it, or modify the operating system language to English, for example: TO_DATE ('9-Jun-14 ', 'dd-Mon-yy ', 'nls _ DATE_LANGUAGE = American '). After this conversion, the data is successfully saved to the date field.
[Experiment]
Small knowledge, easy to remember.
