Yang yigang, vice president of Datang Telecom Science and Technology Research Institute and vice president of Science and Technology Industry Group, introduced the progress of the Wireless Broadband Access Technology McWill independently developed by Datang Telecom at the 2007 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day celebration conference.. Yang yigang also told the communications world network that McWill will not compete with WiMAX.
McWill is a broadband wireless access platform developed by Datang Telecom on the TD-SCDMA narrowband Technology Platform. McWill follows the same route as the evolving version of TD-SCDMA, from the early Code Division Multiple Access to OFDM. According to Yang yigang, McWill covers a maximum of 19 kilometers, 1-3 kilometers in complex urban environments, 8-13 kilometers in suburban areas, and 19 kilometers in open areas, good Indoor Coverage.
When asked about the relationship between McWill and WiMAX, Yang yigang said that McWill and WiMAX do have similarities in technology, but MCWill mainly focuses on applications in special industries, therefore, it will not compete with WiMAX.
At present, "mobile broadband access" has become an important trend in the telecom industry. As a representative of wireless broadband technology, WiMAX technology has always been highly expected by the industry. Many people in the industry believe that: the wireless broadband technology represented by WiMAX may bring profound changes to society around the world.
