1. Introduction to Windows Update Server (Windows Server update Service (WSUS))

1) Technical Overview:

Windows Server update Services (WSUS) enables information technology administrators to deploy the latest Microsoft product updates. In Windows server 2012, WSUS is a server role that can be installed to manage and assign updates. The WSUS server can act as an update source for other WSUS servers in your organization. The WSUS server that acts as the update source is referred to as an upstream server. During the WSUS implementation, at least one WSUS server must be connected to the Microsoft update to obtain available update information in the network. Administrators can determine how other servers connect directly to Microsoft updates based on network security and configuration.

The WSUS server is installed in the SCCM server

2) Install and configure the WSUS server

A) Open and log in to the "bj-sccm-01" server, open Server Manager, click Add Roles and Features

b) on the Select installation Type page, verify that the role-based or feature -based installation option is selected, and then click Next.
