The most fundamental reason that we can win the opportunity and respect in the next generation of the Internet is that we build the next generation of Internet as a process of independent innovation, a thorough invention and creation, unlike the first generation of internet just follow up. Because it is a new thing, there is no mature model can copy, copy, must explore their own. Although we started a little late, but we did not blindly follow the United States, but with their own brain to find problems, to propose solutions. Leading America, Inertia makes it not a positive innovation, which is the advantage of our backward people. We won the time with innovation, won the opportunity, thus won the respect.

The trend of international development is directed at technological innovation

IPv4 There are many problems on the Internet, which are mainly shown in the following four aspects. First, scalability is limited, because IPV4 addresses are limited, and second is security, which is the biggest challenge for the internet now; third, mobility; the real time, the Internet is not a real-time system, how to use the Internet to realize human real-time control activities is another challenge we face.

In response to these problems, the next generation of internet experimentation has been expanding since the late 90. Not long ago, the United States government and the U.S. military also announced the transition to the IPV6 network in 2008, which is enough to demonstrate the strategic impact of the IPV6 network in the world. IPV6 network equipment and application software is also being introduced, the main equipment manufacturers and application software manufacturers are now able to provide IPV6 services. The demand for IPv6 of mobile communication and home appliances is also more and more urgent.

After 10 years of the next generation of Internet construction, the United States began to reflect on why the next generation of Internet can not completely solve security, real-time, service and other issues, and the next generation of Internet why hesitate.

At the end of August 2005, American scientists convened a conference on "GENI" (Global Network Research Environment). The "GENI" program is primarily to identify and evaluate new revolutionary concepts, demonstrations, and technologies that can serve as the foundation of the 21st century Internet to build a large-scale experimental environment that supports the exploration and evaluation of new network architectures. They believe that the future Internet should be worthy of social trust, can inspire science and engineering revolution, support new technology integration, support pervasive computing, become a bridge between physical world and virtual world, support revolutionary service and application.

In addition, the National Natural Science Foundation began the Find program in 2005, which is an important part of the four major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation's next-generation Internet program--nets program. The four major projects are sensor System network Noss, programmable wireless communication network Prowin, generalized networking NBD and future Internet design find. In the find plan, the research focuses on end-to-end network architecture and design, which is the design of an overall structure. It can be seen that the purpose of the United States to study the next generation of Internet is very clear, through continuous development and innovation, to maintain the United States in the leading position in important areas.

However, the main problem of the next generation of Internet is the IPv4 of wearing IPv6 new shoes. Deploying IPV6 only solves scalability issues, but there is no good solution for security, mobility, and timeliness, and the next generation of Internet must design a new Internet architecture. The most important challenge we face is how to carry out a new technological revolution at the critical historical moment of IPV6 deployment.

Two years before the United States launched the Find program, China officially launched Cngi, followed by the "973" project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, launched a new generation of Internet system design basic research. Cernet, a network of educational and scientific research in China, has taken on the--cernet2 of one of the largest core networks in the Cngi project, and has made outstanding contributions to the basic research of the next Generation Internet system design. Self-innovation is the principle that we should be consistent in the process of building the next generation Internet, this innovation is an all-round invention and creation, which is the fundamental difference from the first generation of Internet.
