First I have installed a Windows Server 2012 server, and have configured the IP, DNS and other information.

Below I would like to promote this server to DC, in server 2012, Dcpromo has not been supported for promotion, if you use Dcpromo/adv, the prompt will appear, and will go to the Server Manager interface.

We need to use the Add Features and Roles Wizard of Server Manager to promote the domain controller, first to install the ad-related services, the installation is completed after the subsequent configuration.

First open the Install Wizard for roles and features.

Installation Type Select role-based or feature-based installation.

Currently, only the current machine in our server pool remains the default.

In the Select Server role interface, tick "Active directory Services".

Select Add features, such as.

In the Select Feature interface, do not need to select any features, click Next directly, skip ...

Go to the AD Domain Services Installation Wizard.

After confirming that you have selected all the builds that you want to install, click Install.

Installing:

We can directly click "Close", close the Installation wizard, the installation will not be interrupted, just run in the background.

You can click on the small flag in the Server Manager interface to see what is currently being installed in the background.

After installation, we click on the flag icon to view the prompt content, if we want to complete the DC installation, we need to click on the "promote this server to a domain controller" link, the promotion operation of the domain controller.

After the AD Domain service installation is complete, we enter the wizard to elevate the domain controller:

Because I do not have windows2012 or windows2008 dc in my current environment, I choose "Add a New Forest" here, install the first domain in the New forest, and the root domain name is "feel.com".

Domain and forest functional level select Windows Server 2012 mode:

Tick "Domain Name System DNS Server" and enter the directory Service Restore Mode password.

There is a warning about DNS because no DNS is currently installed, so don't bother to choose the next step directly.

In the NetBIOS domain interface, leave the default and select Next.

Specify the location of the database, log, SYSVOL, because it is the evaluation environment, I keep the default C drive directly.

In the summary interface, if there is no problem, we can choose the next step, if there is a problem, you can return the modification.

Also in the previous step, we can export the configuration information as a PowerShell script file.

Pre-deployment prerequisite checks for AD.

After the prerequisite checks are passed, click Install.

The installation is starting.

Start creating the Active Directory partition.

After the installation is complete, the server needs to be restarted.

After the reboot is complete, we can see that the ad-related management tools are already available in the Start menu.

After the first DC deployment is complete, let's take a look at how Windows Server 2012-related management tools can open properly.
