Design of the remote control buttons for the picture-in-picture Function

Currently, there are two types of TV remote control, namely the switch platform and the volume control key. One is an OK or MENU key, the other is a plus or minus volume, and the other is a plus or minus volume, it can be used either up or down.

If you have never used a TV with a picture-in-picture function, you must consider some problems when designing the picture-in-picture function of a satellite TV set-top box.

1) enable or disable the Function

An independent function is required to press the button to go to the image-in-picture function. We define itPIP key.

Then EXIT the function. You can use the EXIT key or design the PIP key as the ping-pong key. Press it again and EXIT.

The first PIP button is required.

2) Move the small image

By default, a small image appears in the lower-right corner of the screen. Sometimes important information about the large image is blocked and the small image needs to be moved. Our solution supports four positions, top right, top left, and bottom right. To this end, use anotherMOVE, Move the small image in a counter-clockwise order.

The second PIP function button appears.

I didn't use the upper/lower right keys because in our design, I used the upper/lower keys for another server and the left and right keys for the volume.

Question 1) as a user, do you want this function to use a MOVE key separately? Or reuse the PIP key? That is, press the PIP key to enter the painting in the picture. The small picture is in the lower right corner, then press, top right, press each time, move the position, and EXIT to EXIT the PIP function.

3) screen Switching

The third PIP function button appears,SWITCH key. Swap the size and image content. It would be a little strange to reuse this function with the PIP key. However, a single switch function occupies one key, which is a waste.

4) Change servers

The most troublesome thing is to change the server. The dashboard change can be the same as that during full-screen playback. You can use the up and down keys or add or subtract a pair of dashboard changes. How about changing the small painting surface? Well, you can SWITCH to a large screen, SWITCH back to a small screen after changing the station. Is anyone willing to use this? We add a PIP function related buttons, CH-SHIFT key, press this key will pop up a small picture of the channel list, move up and down highlight can choose to change the station, ENTER key to determine the play.

In this way, four independent buttons, PIP, MOVE, SWITCH, and CH-SHIFT, are set for the PIP function.

Question 4) as a user, do you want to have a lot of buttons on the remote control and the buttons have a relatively simple function? Or are there few buttons, but each button has many functions?
