My blog navigation content mainly divided into the following: blog category navigation (that is, placed at the top of the page or the left/right side of the navigation), Title, page/page navigation, other navigation (article links, keywords, links, article content navigation, etc.).

Blog Category Navigation

1, the placement of navigation will affect the visitors to the content of the blog's attention and two clicks. At the beginning of the design blog navigation, only the page navigation, and habitually placed in the head (header.php). I later found that there were a lot of visitors on the page that clicked at the top, the number of clicks is much more than the amount of hits in the single article, so I am in the head of the navigation to add a blog article classification of navigation, design time to take into account the main navigation bar, consider the dropdown or pop-up type of classification navigation , but it's not convenient for users, even if it looks cool. The simpler it is, the more direct the experience will be to the visitor as well. To highlight the bottom of the category navigation, I added a light blue bottom to highlight this part. My blog is dominated by white, the head (header.php) of white makes navigation look less awkward.

2, blog is mainly content-oriented, so the role of navigation is more than just classification. By using a category navigation, visitors can quickly reach a category. But the question is, does the visitor open the classification and see what he is interested in? In fact, on the first page of the blog, most of the content is not going to be clicked-that is, navigation is just a tool that attracts visitors to find content that interests him. For web designers, navigation is designed to help visitors find what they are interested in, and how to attract two clicks.

3, according to the data analysis of visitors ' behavior, you can determine where the navigation will be better. My blog navigates to the right, there are two reasons: first, the content on the left is easy to read, the right-hand side of the sidebar as part of the navigation is ancillary content, secondary content to let him stay in the secondary position, two is based on the search engine to crawl the order of the article and optimize the need to arrange navigation placement location, Search engines crawl a page to crawl from top to bottom, from left to right. Placing the blog content on the left must ensure that the title and content, as well as the tag portion of the first page (see my blog layout), have plenty of keywords, which is more advantageous than just putting the side navigation on the left.

4. Side Sidebar section. The right part of my blog now. On the sidebar should be how to put, someone wrote a lot, are very reasonable. You can go to http://blogunion.org/blogging-tips/optimize-your-sidebar.html to get more information.

5, the title description of the navigation. Most of my blog navigation language is used in English, this is because I think English is more beautiful, so in the title description of the English navigation, I try to use the Chinese description, so not to "drive away" the bad English visitors.

Title Navigation
1, as stated above, the title of the article is also an important navigation part, it can guide visitors to find the content of his interest as far as possible, so, the article title should try to include keywords, the title is the core of an article, search engines are also more value an article title, the title of the keyword navigation will also facilitate the promotion of the ranking of the article.

2, in the browser title bar is also a guide to display titles, about WordPress title optimization design, can refer to this article.

3, because the Chinese title of WordPress is displayed as the Web site when the article "acronym (POST Slug)" will contain a large string of%xx strings, very beautiful, Moonlight blog did a plug-in, you can translate the Chinese title into pinyin

Page/pagination Navigation

Other navigation
1, links in the article. This in my blog does not do much, as if you can use Plug-ins to implement the Site keyword link.

2, tag (tags, keywords) navigation. In the main page (index.php) each article shows that the tag plays a role in navigation. In addition, like XW said, I think I also need to put the tag cloud on the side, but in view of the long side of the problem, gave up the idea.

3, Friendship links. This Part I in the previous "WordPress Theme design and visitor experience (above)" also mentioned. I personally think that the blog links on the home page will be better, if you do the quality of the chain is very high, on the one hand can enhance the ranking of the blog, on the other hand can give visitors a good impression, who can ensure that visitors leave your blog will not come back?

4, the article content navigation. Search engine Crawl page, search engine and people look at the same article, will see the last paragraph from the first, and the first paragraph of the content is the search engine that is the main content of this text, is displayed in the search engine snapshots of the content. So this place is also a more critical part of the blog content and the needs of visitors are more critical parts.

5, RSS navigation. There are many users who often browse blogs using a reader or aggregator subscription tool. So, in the sidebar navigation I try to list the RSS feeds that are easy for visitors to subscribe to.
