Many friends are familiar with the tftp server. We have explained the basic content of tftp before, so we will not go into details here. Here, we will explain the configuration of the Windows tftp server. I hope this will help you.
What is Tftp?
Tftp is called Trivial File Transfer Protocol, and the Chinese name is simple File Transfer Protocol. We can see from its name that it is suitable for transferring "simple" files. Unlike FTP, it uses UDP port 69, so it can traverse many firewalls. However, it also has disadvantages, such as unreliable transmission and no password verification. Even so, it is very suitable for transferring small files.
Putting Tftp on the right path
When transferring files through Ttfp, the server and client are required. For example, if I want to download files from a friend's machine, I need to first configure the Windows tftp server and then download the files from the client of my machine. The operating system after Windows 2000 has a client, so the entire transfer process is actually busy with the other Party, haha! Below I will download some images from a friend's machine as an example to illustrate the use of Tftp.
1. Set the server
This step allows your friends to operate. First, ask your friend to download Tftpd32 and decompress it (he may be very depressed), and then open Tftpd32. Then your friend's machine is a Tftp server. By default, the Tftpd32 storage directory is the download directory. In other words, the files you want to download must be placed in the Ttfpd32 storage directory to be downloaded by the client. To change the Tftpd32 download directory, click "Browse" in the upper-right corner and select the Save directory of the file to be downloaded. However, if you want to download files from your friend's machine in the future, you need to put the files in the modified download directory instead of the Tftpd32 storage directory. If you are confused about the files in the downloaded directory, you can click Show Dir in the upper-right corner to view the files.
Windows tftp server configuration prompt:
A. for more user-friendly Settings, such as the number of users to download and the download port, you can click the "Settings" button, and then click "Tftp port) "," Max Retransmit (maximum number of connections) "and other items fill in the corresponding value, here we recommend that you do not change the port.
B. If you want to upload a large number of files, you can first let your friends package them, which is more convenient to upload.
2. transfer files
After the other party has been busy for so long, it's time to do it yourself. My friend packed all the pictures I wanted (named pictures.rar.pdf) and downloaded pictures.rar for the desired image and saved it in the "image files" Directory of drive D. There are two ways to do this.
Windows tftp server configuration method 1
In "Start> Run", enter "CMD" and press enter, or select "command prompt" from the attachment, and then enter "d:" And press enter (no quotation marks are required ), in this way, switch to disk d, enter "cd d: Image Data", and press Enter. Then, switch to the "d: Image Data" directory, then enter the command "Tftp-I friend IP get pictures.rar ".
The tftp Command help for Windows is as follows:
Transfers files to and from a remote computer running the TFTP service.
TFTP [-I] host [GET | PUT] source [destination]-I Specifies binary image transfer mode (also calledoctet ). in binary image mode the file is moved literally, byte by byte. use this mode when transferring binary files.
Host Specifies the local or remote host.
GET Transfers the file destination on the remote host to the file source on the local host.
PUT Transfers the file source on the local host to the file destination on the remote host.
Source Specifies the file to transfer.
Destination Specifies where to transfer the file.
Windows tftp server configuration method 2
The above is the method of using commands. Let's also try the graphical interface method below. Download the Tftpd32 software (both ends are installed with one) and select the path you want to save in "Current Directory". Here I select "d: Image Data "; switch to "Tftp client.pdf, fill in the local IP address in the local hostnames, fill in the downloaded file name in the local filepath, fill in the local pictures.rar, and then click" Get ". Then you can find the file in the directory. Click "Put" to upload the file to the download directory of your friend Tftpd32.
Notes:
A. If the file is successfully transferred or not, you can see it in Tftpd32's "Tftp Server" and "Current Action.
B. if you want to pass the file to your friend, you only need to replace the command with "Tftp-I friend IP put pictures.rar. For more parameters of the Tftp Command, enter Tftp in CMD. However, your friend cannot upload or download files at this time, because it is a Tftp server, and only the client can perform these operations. If he wants to pass something to you, you need to be the server.
C. When using Tftp to send files, the server must have a fixed public IP address. If your friend accesses the Internet through the gateway in the LAN, the file cannot be transmitted. Of course, if two people are in the same LAN, files can also be transmitted by using an intranet IP address, but this is just a little more.
D. Windows 98 can be used as a server, but the client must be a system with Tftp commands, such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
OK. Here is the Tftp transfer method. If you cannot transfer files via QQ due to firewall or other reasons, try Tftp.
