I. preparations:
1. Prepare the Microsoft Windows 98 installation disc.
2. if possible, use the disk scan program to scan all hard disks to check hard disk errors and fix them before running the installer. Otherwise, it will be troublesome to check hard disk errors during the installation process.
3. If the product key (installation serial number) needs to be used during the installation process, use paper to record the product key (installation serial number) of the Installation File ).
4. if possible, use a driver backup tool (such as driver genie 2004 V1.9 Beta.exe) to back up all drivers under Windows 98 to the hard disk (such as: F: \ Drive ). It is best to download the NIC Driver and modem driver of the local machine online. If you use broadband connection, please download and save the broadband dialing software Enternet300, you can find most of the required software on the Internet.
5. If you want to format the C drive during installation (we recommend that you format the C drive during installation), back up the useful data of the C drive.
6. There must be active partitions in the format of FAT or FAT32 File System. Windows 98 can only be installed in partitions in the format of FAT or FAT32 file system. We recommend that the partition space be greater than 2 GB.

Ii. Start the system with a CD:
(If you already know how to do this, go to the next step.) Add the 98 installation disc to the optical drive, restart the system, set the optical drive to the first boot disk, save the settings, and restart, you can see the installation interface without accident. Iii. Install Windows 98
After the disc is automatically started, the startup interface will be displayed if there is no accident, as shown in Figure 1. If the disc cannot be automatically started, start the disk with 98 (set the disk to the first boot disk ).

If you want to format the drive c, select the second option to go to DOS, enter "format c:" At the prompt "A: \> _", and press Enter, enter "y" and press enter to enable disk C, for example!
Here I have formatted the C drive, so select the first one (install 98 from the CD) and press Enter. As shown in figure 2, (If you do not select 30 seconds, the first item is automatically started ).

You can use the mouse once started. On the Chinese interface, click "continue", as shown in figure 3.

Of course, the license agreement is acceptable! Otherwise, installation fails. Move the cursor to the circle before "accept agreement" and click a black dot in the circle. Then, click "Next", as shown in Figure 5.

Select the directory used to install the system file. The default value is C: \ WINDOWS. Click "Next", as shown in figure 6.

The installer starts to check all hard disks, as shown in figure 7.

Check the components installed on the disk and the directories used to prepare the system for installation, as shown in figure 8.

Check available disk space and disk errors. As shown in figure 9.

In Figure 9, you are required to select a location. China is selected by default. Click "Next", as shown in figure 10.

Whether you want to create a Windows 98 boot disk or not, click "Next", as shown in Figure 11.

If you do not want to create a Windows 98 boot disk, click "cancel" to skip this step. We recommend that you create a boot disk. Put the blank floppy disk with no write protection in the drive, and click "OK" to create the boot disk. Shown as 12

98 boot disk is being created, as shown in Figure 13 after completion (because the disk is easy to be damaged, it is recommended to create another boot disk for backup)

Remove the newly created 98 boot floppy disk and click "OK", as shown in figure 14

Click "Next" here and there will be no previous step. The program is irreversible and there is no room to go back. It is no big deal to click "Next", as shown in Figure 15.

Start copying and start the required files and system files. This process takes a long time. You can take a break. After the copy is complete, as shown in Figure 16

If you have not removed the floppy disk, click "OK" after the floppy disk is removed, as shown in 19

The system restarts. The Windows 98 startup screen is displayed for the first time. After the startup is complete, the hardware, Start Menu, and system settings are installed. It will be restarted several times. You can take a break and the installer will automatically complete the remaining processes. When you see Figure 20, it is a success.

4. end work

2. Set the Internet connection, upgrade the system online, and set the system.
3. install anti-virus software, Upgrade anti-virus software, and install programs.
In summary, the end work takes much longer than the installation time. It is recommended that most users optimize the system after installing the system and program, and then use the System Backup Tool (such as the official version of Ghost Chinese companion 1.0) back up the entire c disk as an image file (the image file size is about 1/3 to 1/4 of the size of the entire c disk ), in the future, if the system is damaged, it will take less than 10 minutes to restore a new system that is identical to the backup.
