Detailed steps for installing fc6 on a hard disk and re-installing XP on a dual system

1. Place the fc6 disc image file to the root directory of the FAT32 partition (required, not in NTFS format)

2: Decompress the isolinux file of the first ISO file to the root directory of a certain partition. It is assumed that it is a f disk (in fact, only the vmlinuz and initrd files in isolinux are required ).

3: Download grub for DoS

Decompress the files in the C root directory (in fact, you only need to extract grldr and menu.1st to drive C)

4: Modify boot. ini

Add the line C:/grldr = "grub for dos" at the end"

Save and exit

5: Modify the menu. lst that you just extracted.

Add these rows at the end of the statement (replace X with a numerical value)

(The two paths here are the actual directories decompressed by isolinux)

Hd0, 7 indicates the first IDE Hard Drive g disk partition. You can modify hard drive parameter 7 as needed.

Note: The C disk under grub is (hd0, 0), the D disk is (hd0, 4), and the E disk is (hd0, 5) + 1 on the basis of the previous disk (this is a bit different from the disc recognized by Linux. Refer to the introduction below)

6. OK. restart the system and you will see the grub for DOS menu. Select fc6 and go to the boot installation page. At this point, we will be half successful. It can be said that we have solved more than half of the key issues. If your hardware is supported, the following installation steps will generally not cause any problems.

In this process, we only need to pay attention to the following points: Install the source and select the hard disk. The first hard disk will be 1. This will be represented in Linux, not in grub. The partition should be manual, note swap partition, which can be twice the memory size, but is not recommended to be small. The sleep function is closely related to this.

Well, if it works well, all the way down. After the installation is complete, the system prompts a reboot. After confirmation, restart. Haha, this will be different. The grub boot of fc6 will go in, after logging on to the system for the first time, make some settings and you will be able to use them normally. Start your Linux journey !!!

Re-install XP in the dual system and re-build fc6 boot:

Go to grub and press C to enter the grub Editing Command, enter root HD (0, press tab to confirm that the partition list appears, and enter setup HD (0, x. (X indicates the partition where fc6 is located)
