Detailed ways to work with clip art in Word 2007

The clip art that you insert in Word usually needs to be edited, and in Word 2003 or earlier, most of the work depends on the corresponding button on the Drawing toolbar. And the Drawing toolbar doesn't exist in Word 2007, so how do we finish editing clip art in Word 2007?

　　Insert Clip Art

Click on the clip Art command in the Illustrations feature group on the Insert tab of the Ribbon, as shown in Figure 1. You can open the Clip Art task pane. This is consistent with Word 2003. In the Search text box, type a word or phrase that describes the clip you want, and click on the clip you've found to insert it into your document as needed.

　　Second, edit clip art

Right-click on the inserted clip art and choose Edit Picture on the pop-up shortcut menu to see a dotted border with eight short line handles around the picture, which is the drawing canvas. If we right-click on the border, the canvas can be manipulated in the pop-up shortcut menu, as shown in Figure 2.

However, for us, it is important that now we can expand the canvas by dragging the handles so that there is a gap between the clip and the canvas border.

Now, with the mouse positioned over the canvas, you can box the various constituent elements of the clip, as shown in Figure 3. If you want to do it fine, then we can use the mouse click method to select each. When you press the Shift key to click the mouse, you can select multiple objects at the same time.

When selected, we can press the "delete" button to remove the selected section, or right-click, select Format AutoShape in the pop-up menu, and format the line color, fill effect, and so on in the Format AutoShape dialog box.

If you click the "Edit Picture" command to not do the above, but to pop up as shown in Figure 4, the Prompt box, then we can do the following:

Click the Office button in the upper-left corner of the document. Click the "Word Options" button in the lower-right corner of the pop-up menu, click "Trust Center" in the list of items on the left of the Open Word Options dialog box, and click the Trust Center Settings button in the right window, as shown in Figure 5, to open the Trust Center dialog box.

In the list on the left of this dialog box, click the macro Settings item, and then, in the list on the right, select the Disable all macros without digital signature option and the "Trust access to the VBA project object Model" complex option, as shown in Figure 6. Once you're sure, you can then restart Word 2007 to edit the picture.

　　Third, splicing clip art

With the previous foundation, the combination of clip art is much simpler. All we have to do is cut a piece of clip art into another clip. For the convenience of editing and adjusting, we can click the right button in the selected section, and then click the combo → group command in the pop-up menu to combine them into one object, as shown in Figure 7.

For the other tool buttons in the Drawing toolbar that you use in Word 2003, we can find them in the drawing tools → format tab, which appears in the Ribbon after the clip is selected, as shown in Figure 8. Also, Word 2007 offers more effects and more functionality.
