Before upgrading the motherboard BIOS, you must determine if the motherboard BIOS can be upgraded. The BIOS chips that can be upgraded must be Flash ROM (fast flash memory), and other kinds of BIOS cannot be upgraded via software. This is not a problem for most new motherboards.

But in order to make it foolproof, check it first. Watch the BIOS chip on the motherboard, which is mostly award or AMI products. Remove the label on the BIOS chip and look at the chip's appearance, which is upgradeable if there are 28, 29, 39, 49 digits in the number on the top of the chip, which starts with W.

In addition, by running the BIOS update, you can also know the type of BIOS ROM, such as the award BIOS Update Awdflash detected BIOS ROM type 29c020/5v (chip type/voltage), is an updatable bios; or check the motherboard instructions directly to see if the motherboard BIOS can be upgraded.
