Unlocking the DHCP service

In a TCP/IP-based network, each workstation must have at least one IP address to communicate with other workstation in the LAN. To facilitate unified management and planning of IP addresses in LAN networks, the DHCP service emerged. DHCP is short for Dynamic Host Configure Protocol. It is also called Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It is a client-server technology, this technology allows the DHCP server to automatically allocate the IP addresses in its address pool to each workstation in the LAN, and also allows the servers in the LAN to lease the reserved IP addresses.

For a network with a large number of workstations, when changing or modifying the IP address, we only need to change its scope parameter in the DHCP server system, the IP address parameters in the DHCP client can be automatically updated, and you do not need to perform IP address change operations on each workstation. This can effectively reduce the network management workload of the LAN administrator, because the IP addresses of all workstations in the LAN are stored in a database on the DHCP server host.
