SMS (Short Messaging Service):
SMS is the earliest short message service standard, and is also the Short Message Service with the highest penetration rate and utilization rate so far. Features:
The length of a short message is limited to 160 bytes (only plain text). For binary non-text messages (images and ringtones), the length is limited to 140 bytes.
In addition, you can set the retention function for text messages. If the user shuts down or is not in the service area, he or she can only receive the SMS after entering the network.
EMS (enhanced Message Service ):
Compared with SMS, EMS can send text messages and simple image sounds, animations, and other information.
Its biggest advantage is that it can still run on the GSM network that hosts the SMS, and there is no difference between the transmission path and the operation method.
MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service ):
Multimedia short message service. The MMS standards are developed by the WAP Forum and 3GPP organizations.
MMS runs on the upper layer of the WAP protocol. Therefore, it does not have much restriction on the transmission format. It supports the circuit interaction data format (CSD-circuit-switched data ), it also supports the universal grouping wireless service (GPRS ).
