High availability and disaster recovery are not the same thing. Although there are overlapping parts in planning and solutions, they are both subsets of business contiunity.
The purpose of HA is to provide resiliency (resiliency) support and planned downtime within the primary data center.
The purpose of DR is to enable an organization to recover the normal use of a computer in the second datacenter when a disaster occurs in the first Data center and affects the availability of the infrastructure.
