The name of the period-over-period comparison is misleading. The adjacent ratio refers to the number of adjacent two time points.

For example, year-on-year comparison:

August is the time point, so the value of 2014/8 months is the same as that of 2015/8 months.

So the algorithm is:

(2015/8-2014/8 months)/2014/8 months

The period-over-period ratio is the value of the adjacent time point. For example, the period-over-period ratio can be calculated for the period-over-period ratio of.

(2015/7-2015/8 months)/2015/7 months

Note that the coarse granularity of time periods and time points can be adjusted. Therefore, to prevent misunderstanding, you can add some time points, such as year-to-year comparison and day-to-day ratio.
