Disable GUI for ubuntu 14.04 Desktop
Problem:
How can I set ubuntu14.04 to start in text mode?
Solution:
Modify the configuration file of GRUB (it is not recommended to change grub. conf directly)
$ Sudo vim/etc/default/grub
Find GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash", which should be in row 11th.
Copy the row and replace quiet splash with text.
Comment out this line (to avoid having to know how to change it back later ).
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "text"
Run the sudo update-grub command and restart the instance.
$sudo update-grub;sudo reboot
After restart, you can directly access the text interface.
How can I switch to the graphical interface of ubuntu 1004 in command line mode?
StartX
If the command cannot be identified
Sudo apt-get install xinit
You also need to install the desktop environment in advance
For example, gnome, such as KDE
Installation Method
Sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop # gnome
Sudo apt-get install Kubuntu-desktop # kde
If the desktop environment is not installed, a command line with a white background and a mouse will appear.
Ubuntu1404 graphic interface display
It seems to be a setup problem. Go to the settings to see the display, display settings, desktop and so on.
