disabling unwanted system services under Windows XP system
Step 1th, on the Windows XP system desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage command.
Step 2nd, open the Computer Management window, expand the Services and Applications directory in the left pane, and select the Services option.
Then in the right pane, double-click the service name that you want to disable, such as Terminal Services, as shown in Figure 2010040531.

Step 3rd, in the Open Terminal Services Properties dialog box, click the Drop-down triangle button to the right of startup type, and select the disabled option in the Drop-down menu.
Set Complete Click OK to disable the service and restart the computer for the settings to take effect, as shown in Figure 2010040532.

Step 4th, repeat steps 2 and 3 to disable other services that you do not need.

(1) NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing

Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer.
(6) Fast User Switching compatibility
Provides management for applications that require assistance under multiple users.
(7) Telnet
Allows remote users to log on to this computer and run programs, and supports a variety of TCP/IP Telnet clients, including unix-based and Windows based computers.
(8) Performance Logs and Alerts
Collects performance data for a local or remote computer based on preconfigured schedule parameters, and then writes this data to the log or triggers an alert.
(9) Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
Manage and control Remote Assistance.
(10) TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
Allows support for the "TCP/IP NetBIOS (NetBT)" Service and NetBIOS name resolution.
(11) Routing and Remote Access
Provide routing services to enterprises in LAN and WAN environments.
(12) Uninterruptible Power Supply
Manage an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) connected to your computer.
(13) Telephony
Provides TAPI support to control the local computer, the server, and telephony devices on the LAN and ip-based voice connections.
