In fact, it is helpless to post this post. Many people refer to me as "NOTE. You can use this method to clear the administrator password.
"Posts have questions. (post link: http://itbbs.pconline.com.cn/traditional/article.jsp? Topic = 1301112 someone claimed to have tried N times. he said he tried it N times .. I may try N + 1 times. after all. the best way to convince people is the truth. I also don't want many netizens to believe this method and make their devices suffer the fate of re-installation!

Test System: Windows XP professional SP2

I installed Windows XP on drive C and Windows Server 2003 on drive D. Therefore, I want to do this.
The experiment is very simple. In Windows Server 2003, I put C: WINDOWSsystem32CONFIG
Cut the preceding SAM file to drive D. It is equal to deleting it from the folder. Then restart. What happened
Condition? It went quite smoothly all the way. A dialog will pop up when the welcome page appears soon.
Box. The content of the dialog box is

Lsass.exe-system error.

Security Account Manager initialization failed. The cause is the following error. The device connected to the system does not work. Error status. oxc0000001. click OK.
Shut down the system and return to security mode. For details, refer to the system log!
(Sorry. Because I do not have a digital camera, I cannot upload images for you to see)

In fact, the system needs to load the SAM file, that is, the security account, in both normal and secure modes at the beginning.
The manager must read the content. If not, an error will be reported. Therefore, you cannot connect to the security mode. That is to say, the entire system has crashed.
It can only be reinstalled.

You can also search on the Internet. We all say that deleting a SAM file is useful, but no one can normally access the system by deleting an xp sam file.

It is the best to use one thing. You can think about it. This is a popular practice in the windows 2000 era.
Even if Microsoft keeps its eyes closed, it cannot be unaware of this vulnerability. Just think about it. Will Microsoft make it more than five years old?

Okay. You cannot access the most basic welcome interface. How do you log on? I would like to ask someone who has tried N times to explain the results after you tried N times.
If you have time, I will use Virtual PC 2004 to perform a similar test on a patch 2000 system.

Now I have come up with my experiment results and asked some people to come up with their experiment results. If you are correct.
If you can clear the XP password, I will make an apology on the page.

Follow-up:

There is also a saying on the Internet that the SAM file under CONFIG is deleted. Then the SAM file under the REPAIR directory is copied to CONFIG. Enter the password with an empty password.

I would like to point out that this is a coincidence of the author. The first thing we need to know is what the repair folder is? He is located in C: WINDOWS.
When we first installed the system, we stored a login file and put the file C: WINDOWSREPAIR under C: WINDOWSCONFIG.
We can create a login configuration file that can be used to start Windows XP. However, this login configuration file records the basic status of the system at the beginning.
It is impossible to store all future changes because the password of the administrator account is blank by default during system installation.
So we can log on with an empty password. This is indeed possible. After my experiment was successful, but what we need to copy is
Software, system, security, default, and sam. Not just a SAM file.
(The author only copies one copy to access the system. I think it can only be said to be lucky, or the hardware information of his computer has never undergone any major changes)
Your hardware information and software information are stored here. If your hardware or software is greatly changed, I think it is very likely that you cannot log on.
Disadvantages: This method has been provided by Microsoft for a long time. When you do not remember the password, you can try it. Of course, the disadvantage of using this method is obvious.
Because it is the status when the system is initially installed. At this time, your audio card driver may not be installed yet. You need to reconfigure the graphics card. Some drivers may need to be installed.
. Most of your previous system configuration optimizations will disappear. for example, advanced settings for system properties. virtual Memory settings. service Startup settings .. and so on. the addition and deletion programs in the control panel will lose the display of most programs. (depending on the amount of software you install during system installation) Most programs can run normally. A small part of software needs to be re-installed. in particular, some programs loaded in service mode. such as Kaspersky. so we can solve this problem using the method described in my other post. it should be much better.

Let's talk about the procedure. (this can be found in Microsoft's knowledge base.) If you have a dual system and another system can normally enter. that would be very simple. copy the software, system, security, default, and sam files under c: windowsepair to c: windowssystem32config. overwrite the original file. restart.

If there is no dual-system. if the disk C is FAT32, you can directly perform the operation under DOS. if NTFS is used. you can also use a tool that can identify NTFS partitions. FOR example, ntfs for dos. then, perform the following operations:

Delete c: windowssystem32configsystem
Delete c: windowssystem32configsoftware
Delete c: windowssystem32configsam
Delete c: windowssystem32configsecurity
Delete c: windowssystem32configdefault

Copy c: windowsepairsystem c: windowssystem32configsystem
Copy c: windowsepairsoftware c: windowssystem32configsoftware
Copy c: windowsepairsam c: windowssystem32configsam
Copy c: windowsepairsecurity c: windowssystem32configsecurity
Copy c: windowsepairdefault c: windowssystem32configdefault

Here is a suggestion. for those who often forget the administrator password. you can do this. first clear the administrator password. back up the software, system, security, default, and sam files under c: windowssystem32config. (add one note: If you have a dual system. please go to another system to back up the files in this system. if not. backup can be performed under DOS. this is because these files are always used when running WINDOWS. the system will not allow you to copy these files and cut jobs of the same type.) You can decide where the backup is. you can also directly overwrite files in c: windowsepair. in this case. when you forget your password. you can use the above method to restore. and because it is a recent backup. that is to say. when you restore, the software and settings installed on your computer will always look like backups. in this way, the loss can be minimized. of course. everything has a good side and a bad side. people can also use the above methods to access your system. and you may not know. after all, you are not using the administrator account to log on. the administrator account is not displayed on the logon page by default.

Log On with the administrator account. Open CMD. Enter the command: net user your original administrator username "new password"
Press enter to change the password of your original user to a new one. You can also change the password of a user managed by the computer.

When you log on to the c: documents and settings folder, an administrator is automatically created. computer_name folder. the folder also contains a folder named "administrator.. computer_name is used to distinguish it from the administrator file. we only need to restart. log On with the Administrator account after you change the password. then delete the administrator file. set administrator. rename computer_name to administrator.

The last step is to set a strong password for your administrator and disable it.

Yoshi supplement:

Since some people say yes, I just want to do a little bit of work and use virtual machines to do experiments. Let's talk with pictures.

My virtual machine is installed in the 2003 Standard Edition, on the C drive
I have deleted the sam file.

After startup
Screen. width-333) this. width = screen. width-333 "border = 0>

No, right? Enter security mode

Screen. width-333) this. width = screen. width-333 "border = 0>

To be a viable friend, please use a picture to speak. You said you do not have a digital camera or a virtual machine.

Finally, I want to say: the most taboo thing to learn about computer science is that you do not understand it.
