Does Windows 7 support Blu-ray HD discs?

Blu-ray as a new generation of data storage carrier, capacity than the current DVD is much larger, now can be on a CD-ROM to maintain 400G of data, has become a lot of high-definition film distribution carrier. But because of the cost, it has not been widely spread. Windows7 as Microsoft's latest operating system, what about Blu-ray support?

Unfortunately, although a Microsoft executive has disclosed that WINDOWS7 does not support video stored by Blu-ray discs, while Windows Media Player can support DVD playback, Blu-ray DVD playback may require a subscription to the relevant upgrades or plug-ins to support. Thankfully, Windows7 supports burning of Blu-ray discs, and we can use Windows to burn data to Blu-ray DVDs. I think, since WMP began to support high-definition video playback, why not consider the direct support of Blu-ray video playback it? It may have something to do with the more expensive Blu-ray cost.
