A set of universal and interoperable Internal Gateway Routing Protocols (IGP) for the Internet began in 1988. At that time, OSPF (OpenShortest Path First) the Protocol is required to become a draft Internet standard. The OSPF protocol is developed to provide an open and high-performance Internal Gateway Routing Protocol for the TCP/IP protocol set. It is completely different from the distance vector routing protocol based on the Bellman-Ford algorithm. OSPF is a link state routing protocol based on the Dijkstra algorithm. This algorithm is also called the Shortest Path priority (SPF) algorithm.
