I have been working on it for a while. I have been looking for some time to sort it out and try again. Two days ago, an Italian buddy wrote a letter asking if there was any CE 6 for VMware NIC driver. He had not done it for a long time. This makes me think that some people may need this thing, so let's talk about it first.
The biggest difference between Ce 6.0 and earlier versions is virtual memory management. Most of the other adjustments start from this. I thought the drivers before ce 6.0 could not be used, which would be very troublesome for me to do ce 6.0 for VMware, because I do not have the source code of the NIC Driver (the source code I provided in 5.0 BSP cannot work ). After trying to build a kernel, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the original NIC Driver could still work, saving a lot of trouble. There is only one thing to change. You must specify the NIC driver as the kernel mode driver. That is to say, you must change it in latform. bib (one k more than CE 5): View plaincopy to clipboardprint?

VMware Workstation 6.0 supports USB 2.0 host (EHCI), but the CE 6.0 EHCI driver does not work. The preliminary research result is that after the USB device is plugged in, it is aware that, however, the getdescpritor step fails during initialization. Therefore, this kernel uses USB 1.1 host (uhci ).
In addition, I also added core connectivity support in this kernel. I should know this thing if I have used Visual Studio 2005 for CE 5.0 or 6.0 application development. For more information about the usage, see the msdn article. At the same time, I also wrote a small tool (corecon.exe) for ease of use. If your vs2005 has not been patched with SP1, enter:
"> Corecon
If your vs2005 has a large SP1 Patch, enter:
"> Corecon/SP1
To kill corecon, enter:
"> Corecon/K

- Windows CE 6.0 for VMware BSP
Use vmware workstation 6.0 or VMWare Player 2.0 or later to open the virtual machine configuration file in the compressed package. After running the file, it can be automatically booted to the Windows CE desktop. Windows CE runtime kernel supports:
- 64 MB memory
- Audio
- 2 gb ide Hard Drive
- USB 1.1 host (uhci)
- Nic
- RS232 serial port (output to file)
- Core connectiviy support
If you do not have VMWare, you can download VMWare Player from the VMware homepage for free.
