Dreamweaver MX 2004 starting from zero (7)

Dreamweaver has already described the basics of Dreamweaver MX 2004, using these methods flexibly to create a beautiful web site. After the completion of these operations, our online home process can be said to have gone half, the rest is to upload the Web page to the site and the Post maintenance update operation of the page. In fact, these tasks are not complex, as long as we through the Dreamweaver MX 2004 built-in site management features can be easily achieved!

Custom site

First we'll find some space on the Internet for the home page, and then we can customize the site in Dreamweaver MX 2004.

The first step is to run the "site→manage Sites" command and click the "New→site" button in the pop-up window to create a new site.

The second step is to select Local info in the left part of the Site Settings window, and then enter the name of the site, the path to store the file, and so on in the right area.

The third step is to select "Remote Info" on the left side of the window, and then enter the remote FTP site Transfer type (generally FTP), the remote server holds the file path, the host address, the username and the password, and so on in the right section when the application space is entered. At the same time, according to the site's transmission mode to choose whether to use "Using Passive FTP", this is because some of the FTP site passive mode of work, for this part of the site to select the item (see Figure 1).

Tip: After you have entered all the information, you can click the "Test" button to see if you can successfully log on to the remote FTP server.

After the fourth step is confirmed, Dreamweaver MX 2004 will automatically appear in the Site auxiliary panel, click the "Connect" button to establish a connection to the remote station, and then press the "Expand/collapse" button on the right-hand side of the auxiliary panel to display the secondary panel (Figure 2). By default, the left window displays files from the remote site, and the right window is the file on the local hard disk.

The fifth step in the right local hard disk window with the mouse to select the file to upload, and drag it to the left of the remote server's corresponding directory can start file transfer operation, a little wait a moment after the completion of the File upload task.

Tip: You can select multiple file uploads by using the "Shift" or "Ctrl" button.

After uploading all of the page files, we can open IE browser, enter the corresponding URL address to see the carefully crafted site.

Update Web sites synchronously

The Sync Update site is a feature that allows you to manage local folders and remote Web sites synchronously. When your site after many uploads and updates, may make the remote site more than a lot of useless old files, which is a waste of space, at this time can use the file synchronization function to synchronize the update of the site.

The first step is to enter the Site window in Dreamweaver MX 2004, to switch the secondary panel to extended mode after logging on to the remote server, and then set the directory for the local folder and remote server.

The second step is to run the site→synchronize command in the secondary panel, and you can see the dialog box shown in Figure 3. First select the entire Web site or selected file in the Synchroniz drop-down menu, and then select the put newer files to Romote from the Direction drop-down list, which can be done by the Dreamweaver MX 2004 automatically searches for updated files in the local folder and uploads them to the remote server.

Tip: Select the delete remote files not to local files item to prompt you to delete unwanted junk files in your home folder.

The third step after clicking the "Preview" button will appear in Figure 4 of the preview window, here can see the need to upload a list of files, confirm the click "OK" button to start the update operation.

After the update is complete, Dreamweaver MX 2004 also displays the results of the entire update in the window shown in Figure 4, which helps us understand whether the synchronization updates for the site are complete.
