Insert an FLV file

1. Open the HTML document, click the "Insert" menu, select "Media" command, and select "FLV" Item in the Pop-up submenu:

2. When the "FLV" Item is selected, the Insert FLV dialog box pops up, as shown in the following illustration:

① "Video Type" selection: "Progressive download video" or "streaming video" can be selected in the video type item.

② "url" entry: Enter the URL of an flv file in the URL, or click the "Browse" button to select an FLV file.

③ Click on the "OK" button to close the Insert FLV dialog box.

Second, progressive download video settings

Progressive download Video: Progressive Download the FLV file is first downloaded to the visitor's hard disk before it is played. It allows the video file to start playing before the download is complete.

1. In Figure 2, select "Progressive download video" In the "video type" item.

2. Specify the following options:

URL: Enter the URL of an flv file, or click the "Browse" button to select an FLV file.

Appearance: Specifies the appearance of the video component. When you select an item, the preview effect appears below the Appearance pop-up menu.

Width: Specifies the width of the flv file. Units are pixels. Click the Detect Size button, Dreamweaver automatically specifies the exact width of the flv file. If you cannot specify a width, you must manually type the width value.

Height: Specifies the height of the flv file. Units are pixels. Click the Detect Size button, Dreamweaver automatically specifies the exact height of the flv file. If you cannot specify a height, you must manually type the height value.

The include appearance item to the right of the height: the width and height of the flv file are added to the width and height of the selected appearance.

Limit aspect ratio: keeps the ratio of the flv file width and height unchanged. This option is selected by default.

AutoPlay: Select this to automatically play the FLV file when the page is loaded.

AutoPlay: Select to automatically return the FLV file to its starting position when it is finished playing.

3. Click OK to insert the FLV file into the Web page after you close the Insert FLV dialog box.

Third, streaming video

Streaming video: Streaming video is streaming video content and playing it on a Web page after a short buffer time to ensure smooth playback.

1. In Figure 2, select streaming video in the video type item, as shown in the following illustration:

2. Specify the following options:

Server URL: Enter the server name, application name, and instance name.

Stream Name: Specifies the name of the FLV file to play. such as: baike369.flv.

Appearance: Specifies the appearance of the video component. When you select an item, the preview effect appears below the Appearance pop-up menu.

Width: Specifies the width of the flv file. Units are pixels. Click the Detect Size button, Dreamweaver automatically specifies the exact width of the flv file. If you cannot specify a width, you must manually type the width value.

Height: Specifies the height of the flv file. Units are pixels. Click the Detect Size button, Dreamweaver automatically specifies the exact height of the flv file. If you cannot specify a height, you must manually type the height value.

Buffer time: Sets the time (in seconds) that is required to buffer before the video starts to play.

3. Click OK to insert the FLV file into the Web page after you close the Insert FLV dialog box.

Tip: If you want to enable streaming video on a Web page, you must have permission to access the Adobe®flash®media server.

Setting properties for FLV files

In document Design view, click the flv file placeholder to select the FLV content. Open the Properties panel of the FLV file, as shown in the following illustration:
