Users who have installed dual systems (Windows Vista and Windows XP in this article) may not know yet. By default, these two systems use their own temporary folders. If the files are not cleared in time, the system and hard disk space will be greatly wasted.
If the user sets the temporary files of the two as a shared method, it can save space and facilitate the user's "one-time" management (for example, you only need to log on to a system to clear all the temporary files. The specific settings must be set in the Vista and XP systems respectively. The method is as follows:
First, go to disk D, create a new folder in it, and name it "Temp ".
TIPS:
The purpose of this step is to set a shared Temporary Folder for Vista and XP. Therefore, it is best not to set this path under the partition of Vista or XP.
On the System desktop, right-click "computer"> "properties" and click "Advanced System settings" (1) in the displayed window ).

Then, in the system pop-up window, click the "environment variable" button in the lower-right corner (2), and then select "Temp" (3) in the pop-up window ), double-click the variable name, and set the variable value to "D:/Temp" (2, 3) in "edit user variable ).

TIPS:
The variable value here is not a specific value or number, but a temporary file storage path consisting of a partition drive letter and a Temporary Folder name.
Now, all the operation steps under Vista have been completed. The user needs to restart the computer and log on to the XP system, then, in the same way, set the directory for storing temporary files under XP to D:/temp.
