RIP route information selection Protocol

RIP is a distance vector routing protocol. It determines the number of hops that a data packet passes through.Vro. RIP is designed to exchange routing selection information between small and heavy networks. The configuration and deployment of RIP are quite simple. The disadvantage of RIP is that the network cannot be expanded to a large or ultra-large network. The maximum number of hops used by the RIP Router is 15 hops, and 16 hops or larger networks are considered inaccessible. When the network size increases, the periodic announcement of each RIP Router may lead to transitional communication. Another disadvantage of RIP is that it takes a lot of recovery time. When the network topology is changed, it may take several minutes to reconfigure itself to the new network topology on the RIP Router. When the network is reconfigured, the routing loop may result in loss or data transmission failure.

The RIP Router can also communicate with each other by triggering the updated route information. When the network topology is changed and the route selection information for the update is sent, the changes will be reflected after the update is triggered. Trigger the update when the number is used, and the update will be sent immediately instead of waiting for the announcement of the next cycle. For example, when a router detects a link or a router failure, it updates its route table and sends an updated route. Modify the route selection table for each router that receives the trigger update and spread the change.

R00002 is an improved version of RIP and has the following features:

1) added an authentication domain to prevent hackers from performing RIP attacks.

2) The next hop address is added to the route entry. You can specify an adjacent router as the next hop for a specific purpose.

OSPF Open Shortest Path First

RIP is supported in versions earlier than Windows2003, and Windows2003 also supports OSPF routing algorithms. OSPF is designed to exchange routing selection information in large or ultra-large networks.

The biggest advantage of OSPF is high efficiency, and OSPF requires a small amount of network overhead, even in a very large network. The biggest disadvantage of OSPF is its complexity. OSPF requires proper planning and is more difficult to configure and manage. OSPF uses the "Shortest Path Limited" algorithm to calculate routes in the route selection table. The OSPF algorithm calculates the lowest cost for the shortest path between the router and all networks ).

OSPF routes are usually free-circulating. Unlike RIP routers, which exchange route table items, OSPF routers maintain network ing and update the network ing after any changes to the network topology. The ing is called a link status database and used to synchronize routing information in the OSPF router and the route table .; The neighboring OSPF router forms an adjacent relationship, which is the logical relationship between routers and is used to synchronize the link status database.

Changes to the network topology will effectively overwrite the entire network to ensure that the link status database on each router is always synchronized and accurate. Once the link status database changes are received, the route table is recalculated.

OSPF is superior to RIP in the following aspects.

1) OSPF routers are generally not cyclic.

2) OSPF can be adjusted to a large or very large Internet network.

3) the network topology configuration becomes faster.

The implementation of OSPF vro2003 in Windows2003 has the following features:

1) the routing filter used to control the interaction with other routing protocols.

3) coexist with RIP.

4) dynamically add and delete interfaces.

Tip:

The Windows2003 Router does not support ospf in the request dialing configuration. This configuration uses an unfixed dial-up connection.

Combination of static and dynamic Routers

Add a dynamic route entry to the route table of the static router.

Hardware Router
