Dynamics CRM 2015 New Feature (4): Calculate Field & Rollup Field, dynamicscalculate

Calculate Field & Rollup Field can be said to be two powerful Feature. With the continuous update of Dynamics CRM version, this exciting feature came out one by one. For Calculate Field and Rollup Field, developers are required to implement such functions before, but now you only need to manually configure it.

Calculate Field -- therefore, it is a cascade Field. After calculating the values of multiple fields and assigning the results to the final Field, the previous development is inseparable from Javascript, in addition, server-side changes also trigger the calculate logic. That is to say, Plugin, workflow, and data import can all enjoy this benefit. Of course, it is also very simple to configure the Calculate Field. You can follow the steps below to configure it.

2. Configure Calculate Rule (that is, Business Rule, click Edit on the Right of Field Type)

Rollup Field is also a summary Field. In projects, we often perform some summary calculations, such as Quote and Quote Line Item, we want to create a field Amount on the Quote to calculate the unit price of all Quote Line items under the Quote. In the past, we would certainly use Plugin to implement this logic. After creating a Quote Line Item, we would re-calculate the Amount value.

Now, with Rollup Field, we can save the time to use Custom code to calculate the summary value. Although Rollup Field is quite powerful, it still has some limitations. For example, you cannot calculate the summary result in real time and only enable the summary function for fields of the number and datetime types. Let's take a look at its configuration method:
