Crystal Reports provides a baseline to help you align, move, and resize report objects accurately. The baseline is a number of non-print lines that can be placed anywhere on the design tab and preview tab to help align. They have alignment attributes to automatically align objects with them.

1. view the baseline
2. Insert a baseline
3. Align objects with the baseline
4. Use a line to locate an object
5. Adjust the object size with a line
----------------------------------
1. view the baseline
You can select various view options in the "options" dialog box to view the baseline on the "design" and "preview" tabs.

View baseline
1. on the "file" menu, click "options ". The "options" dialog box appears.
2. on the layout tab, select the "quasi-line" check box in the "design view" area and/or the "quasi-line" check box in the "preview" area.
3. Click OK to save the changes.

Tip: Select the "quasi-line" command on the "View" menu.

For more information, see use the baseline design.
----------------------------------
2. Insert a baseline
Although you can or should manually insert a baseline when necessary, Crystal Reports will automatically Insert the baseline in specific circumstances:
Whenever a field or formula field is added to a report, the program creates a baseline at the left edge of the field box and alignment the field and field title.
When the field is summarized, the program will align the summary with the same line to ensure correct alignment.
When you right-click the shadow area on the left of a section and select the "arrange rows" option from the shortcut menu, the program creates one or more horizontal line in this section, and align the fields with them.

Manually insert, move, and delete a baseline
1. On the design or preview tab, click the ruler at the top to activate the vertical line. Click the ruler on the left to activate the horizontal line.
Note that each baseline is connected to an arrow at its starting ruler position.
NOTE: If no baseline is displayed, make sure that the corresponding "baseline" option is selected on the "View" menu. On the preview tab, You must select an object to view the baseline.
2. to place the baseline at the target position, drag its arrow along the ruler to the corresponding position.
3. Delete the baseline and drag its arrow out of the ruler.

Note: If the grid line alignment option is selected, you can insert or move the baseline incrementally in a grid.

For more information, see use the baseline design.
----------------------------------
3. Align objects with the baseline
To align the object with the baseline, drag the report object to the baseline until the edge of the object falls on the baseline. Alignment not only allows you to accurately align report objects, but also allows you to reposition and resize multiple objects at the same time. Once several objects are aligned with a certain baseline, you can move all objects by moving the baseline.
1. Align the top or bottom of an object with the horizontal line.
2. Align the left, right, or center vertical lines of the object (invisible lines of the vertical object) with the vertical quasi-line.

Align objects with the baseline
1. Click a ruler to insert a baseline.
2. Drag the report object to the top of the quasi-line so that one side of the object falls on the quasi-line.

The alignment attribute of the baseline has a different effect on text-based objects than on other objects such as Ole. When a line of text-based objects is aligned with the baseline, the line is aligned with the baseline of the text, not the object box. When multiple lines of text-based objects are aligned with the baseline, the line can be either a text baseline or an object box.
You can check whether the text-based object is aligned with the horizontal line by checking the special indicator (that is, the point of the middle circle) on both sides of the object directly above the baseline in the design view. If the object is aligned with the vertical line, the special indicator is displayed along the side of the object.

To place several text objects of different font sizes on a row and make their baselines a straight line, You need to align the baselines of each object with the same horizontal line.

----------------------------------
4. Use a line to locate an object
After alignment of one or more objects with a certain baseline, you can move all objects simultaneously by moving the baseline. To move the baseline, drag its arrow along the ruler.

Note: When moving the baseline, all objects aligned with it also move. However, if the object is aligned with the baseline, the baseline does not move along with it.

For more information, see use the baseline design.
----------------------------------
5. Adjust the object size with a line
You can adjust the size of two or more objects with the same or different sizes (height or width) by using the two baseline. In both cases, the process of adjusting the size of two admission lines is the same.

Adjust the object size with a baseline
1. Create a baseline.
2. Align one end of the object with the baseline.
3. Create a second line on the right of the object.
Note: This line should not be exposed to this object.
4. Click an object to activate the size adjustment controller.
5. Drag the size control handle to the second line to align the object with the line.
6. Repeat steps 2nd to 5th for each object to be aligned with the two baselines.
7. If the object is not the required size, drag one or all of the quasi-lines until the object size is correct.
