When you install the Tomcat server in eclipse, the error "cannot create a server using the selected type" is returned ".

Cause: the previously installed Tomcat directory has changed.

Solution: window-> preferences-> server-> runtime environment, change the Tomcat directory to which you installed it, and save the settings so that you can create a Tomcat server.

There is another way:
In the current workspace, enter the path/. Metadata/. plugins/org. Eclipse. Core. runtime/. settings. Remember that it is not the path of the eclispe program.

Remove the org. Eclipse. WST. server. Core. prefs and org. Eclipse. JST. server. tomcat. Core. prefs files.

Then restart eclipse.

I personally think that the first method is more convenient and intuitive.
In fact, the cause of this problem is also very simple, that is, the original service path has been specified, because the original Tomcat error or its reasons, you cannot specify the server path again, the first method is to re-specify the file in the IDE environment, and the second method is to delete the file in the storage path. If you re-specify the path, no error will be reported, and this file will be re-created in the IDE environment. Ultimately, the purpose is the same.
