Eclipse Close Project Why would you want to close the project?

The Eclipse workspace contains multiple projects. An item can be either off or on.

Too many project open effects are:

  • Memory consumption
  • Compile time: When you delete the project. class file (clean all Projects) and recompile (choose Project > Clean > Clean All Projects on the menu).

How do I close a project?

If the project is not in the development phase, we can close the project first.

On the Package Explode view, select the project you want to close and close the project by selecting Project > Close project from the menu.

Closed Project

After the project is closed we can see the item's icon has changed in the package Explorer view. Items that are closed are not editable.

Re-open Project

You can do this by selecting Project > Open project.
