Set eclipse today by pressing the TAB key to 4 spaces, marked down here!

Window-->preferences-->java-->code Style-->formatter

Then right-click Edit ... button, on the General Settings page, in the drop-down box to the right of the Tab policy, select Space only!

Then the following indentation size and Tab size are set to the number of spaces you want! It is usually 4 spaces!!

Note: Versions prior to 3.6 appear to be set Window-->preferences-->general-->editors-->text Editors

Right option Insert spaces for tabs hook up! Then Displayed tab width = 4 is also possible!
