Malicious code, such as viruses and Trojans, has flooded the internet. It is also widely disseminated, one of which is through e-mail transmission. The possible scenarios are as follows:
>The message itself is sent through a virus, and carries the virus itself or variant;
>The message is sent through the sender, but the virus is automatically sent with the message because the sender's device is infected with a virus;
>When the sender sends the message, the attachment is actively added, and the attachment file contains the virus.
For the recipient, if you receive these messages carrying malicious code, and the local without the latest, effective anti-malicious code tool, then it will be infected with the virus or Trojan invasion, and so on.
Exchange Online provides a malware filter that enables malicious code scanning of messages before the final recipient receives the message, and if malicious code is present, it will be processed.
First, understand the default anti-malware filter policy
In the EAC, navigate to protection, navigate to the Malicious Code Filter tab, select the Default you want to configure, click the Pen button, and open the Antimalware policy window.

In the Settings tab, you can specify whether the response action for malware is detected, a default warning or a custom warning is issued for the entire message, or only the attachment is deleted. In addition, you can configure file types for attachments to be filtered, which is turned off by default, recommended to open, and add common extensions that may carry malicious code file types. such as: exe, zip and so on. When a message is detected to carry malicious software, whether to notify the sender or recipient, which is not enabled by default, it is recommended to enable at least notify senders.

This default Antimalware policy for EO is effective for the organization globally, and its access is all recipients under the current O365 subscription. If you only want to take effect on some recipients, you can do so by customizing the Antimalware policy.
Second, custom anti-malware filter policy
In the Exchange Admin Center window, click "Protect" in the navigation bar, select "Malware Filter" in the right window navigation bar, and click the Add "+" button to open the "New antimalware Policy" window.

You can adjust the priority of the policy through the up and down arrows in the Malware Filter tab, and you can enable or disable the policy by using the check box before the policy.
