At present, there are usually a certain number of enterprises, basically in other regions there are some branches, factories, offices and other institutions, how to efficiently, securely, and cheaply connect the networks of these branches to the Headquarters network has become an obstacle for enterprise informatization. This article introduces a Simple and Easy VPN connection technology to help enterprises solve this problem.
I. Case studies
A large enterprise is distributed all over the world. Now, we need to connect the LAN of each branch so that computers in the enterprise can access internal resources efficiently and securely through this connection, any two computers can access each other.
Ii. Solution
SoftEther is a free virtual network card software that can simulate the work order of the Ethernet Card, and can simulate the HUB function (: http://xjrx-http.skycn.com: 8181/down/HA-SoftEther-CHX.exe ); there is a bridging function in the network connection between Windows XP and Windows 2003. You can use two NICs to bridge two physically separated network segments into a LAN. The VPN connection method shown in 1 is designed accordingly.

In Figure 1, E1, E2, E4, and E5 are Ethernet cards. E1 and E5 are connected to the internal LAN, E2 and E4 are connected to the external internet, and E2 has a fixed IP address on the Internet; e3 and E6 are virtual NICs of SoftEther and are connected to the HUB virtualized by SoftEther. According to the connection shown in figure 1, you only need to bridge E1 and E3, and E5 and E6 can connect the local networks of all branches together. The specific configuration is as follows:

You must install Windows XP or Windows. When E1 is connected to the internal LAN, it is set:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
E2 is connected to the Internet, and it is best to apply for a fixed IP address for it. If you use ADSL to connect to the Internet, preferably monthly subscription. If this server is never shut down, the IP address obtained from the ISP is also equivalent to a fixed IP address. Assume that the fixed IP address of E2 is 202.98.168.10 and the gateway is 202.98.168.1.
E3 is a network card virtualized with SoftEther. The installation and configuration of the virtual HUB and virtual network card are described in detail here.
Step 1: double-click the softetherinstallation file ha-softether-chx.exe downloaded from the Internet. The window shown in 2 appears, and click Next.

Step 3. Check the first option in Figure 4. If the server is a headquarters server, check the second option. Other branch servers do not have to install the second option. Click Install ".
Step 4. Figure 5 shows the prompt that the virtual network card will be installed. Click "continue ".
Step 5. The window shown in Figure 6 shows that the Virtual network card has been successfully installed. In "Control Panel", "network Connection" has an extra disconnected Connection named "SoftEther Virtual LAN Connection. Click "start" in "SoftEther virtual network card core service" to start the virtual network card core service. If it is a headquarters server, start the "SoftEther Virtual HUB service ". Click exit Soft ether settings ". (This step can also be reset later ).
Step 6. After SoftEher is installed, set "virtual HUB" (only required by the Headquarters server ). Click Start> All Programs> SoftEther vhub manager on the desktop. The window shown in Figure 7 appears. By default, Localhost is connected to the local computer. You can also enter a remote IP address such as 202.98.168.10. Click Connect ".

Step 7. in figure 8, enter the password.
Step 8. Go to "1-user management", execute "2-create new user", enter the user name and password: user, and press Enter.
Step 9. Exit the virtual HUB settings and double-click the "SOFTETHER Connection Manager" icon on the desktop to open the virtual Nic connection Configuration window. Click "New Account" under "account". Figure 10 is displayed. Select the "authentication required for connecting to the virtual HUB" option, and enter the user name and password created in the preceding virtual HUB configuration in "User Name" and "password.
Setp10. In "communication protocol connected to the virtual HUB", select "direct TCP/IP connection" and click "Configure" to open the dialog box in Figure 11, in the IP address, enter the IP address of the Headquarters server to connect to the Internet NIC: 202.98.168.10.
Step 11. After the New account is set, add a New Connec name in the "SoftEther Connection Manager" window.
