Enable and configure office 365 multi-factor authentication

A friend asked me how secure my Office 365 account is? If others know my account and password, they will not be able to access my Office 365 at any time. In fact, Office 365 has a multi-factor authentication.

What is multi-factor authentication and how does it work?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) or dual-factor authentication (2fa) is an authentication method that requires multiple authentication methods, it also adds another key protection barrier for user login and transactions. This method requires any two or more of the following verification methods to function:

• Information you know (usually password)

• What you own (a trusted device that is not easy to copy, such as a phone number)

• Your features (biometrics)

The security of multi-factor authentication depends on its layered method. Breaking through the multi-factor authentication defense will pose a major challenge to attackers. Even If attackers try to obtain the user's password, it is meaningless for devices that are not highly trusted. On the contrary, if a user accidentally loses a device, the device is still unavailable unless the person who obtains the device knows the user password.
