Details:
Oracle NUMA (Non Uniform Memory Architecture) support can be used with large SMP multiprocessor environments with NUMA hardware.
Enabling Oracle NUMA support effectively uses the underlying NUMA hardware and may improve the database performance.
 
Oracle NUMA support requires a correct combination of hardware, OS, and oracle db version.
From oracle db 11.2.0.1, Oracle NUMA support is disabled by default.
This article describes how to enable Oracle NUMA support in the case of Oracle db 11gR2.
In environments earlier than Oracle db 11.2, NUMA recommendations and NUMA support can be found in the mos article: Note: 759565.1.
Be careful to enable NUMA support. Contact your hardware supplier for information about NUMA compatibility between your hardware and operating system.
Recommended:
Customers who have tuned their Database specifically for NUMA can continue to run with NUMA enabled with Oracle Server Version 11.2.0.1.
It is stronugly recommended to mers who want to enable NUMA do sufficient testing before going into production.
Action:
To enable NUMA in oracle db 11.2, follow these steps:
When oracle db 11.2 is used in a NUMA-compatible environment, Oracle does not check the NUMA compatibility between hardware and OS by default, and Oracle NUMA support is not enabled.
Set the following implicit parameters to enable NUMA support

_ Enable_NUMA_support = TRUE

In addition, no other steps are required.
_ Enable_NUMA_support replaces _ enable_NUMA_optimization. If the _ enable_NUMA_optimization parameter is used to replace the _ enable_NUMA_support parameter, an alarm is reported in the alert log:

... _ Enable_NUMA_optimization is deprecated please use _ enable_NUMA_support instead ....

Once the _ enable_NUMA_support parameter is set in the parameter file and oracle db 11.2 runs in the NUMA compatible environment, the alert log of the database instance will have the feedback that NUMA support has been enabled, the NUMA configuration is detected.

For example, in a 8 NUMA domains Linux system with 48 cores:

... NUMA system found and support enabled (8 domains-6, 6, 6, 6, 6 )...

Warning:
Disabling or enabling will change the application performance.
Before enabling NUMA support in the production environment, we recommend that you evaluate it in the testing environment.
When Oracle NUMA support is disabled, the operating system and hardware configuration may need to be adjusted or reconfigured. Please consult your hardware vendor for more information.
