Reason:

Ambari sends a "ping" connection to datanode every minute to make sure Datanode is working properly. Otherwise it will trigger alert. But Datanode doesn't deal with the logic of empty content, so it's a direct exception.

Workaround:

This can be ignored, or use patches in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-8738.
