for a worksheet file that creates a consolidation, we can further edit it as described below.
Before performing these operations, you should also note that these actions apply to adjusting the source area and consolidating the calculated data in the destination area only if we have not established a link to the source area. If we have established a link to the source area and are also adjusting the consolidation, delete the results of the consolidation and move the outline before performing the following procedure.
11.2.1 adds a source area to an existing consolidation
adds a source area to an existing consolidation operation steps are as follows:
(1) designates an existing target area.
(2) to perform the Consolidate command on the Data menu, the Merge Calculation dialog box appears.
(3) Select the Reference location input box, and select the source range if the sheet containing the new source range is open.
(4) Select the "Add" button to use the new source area to consolidate the calculation.
(5) Press "OK" button.
11.2.2 Change the reference to the source area
The following steps to change the source region reference are:
Select the target area of the existence. To perform the consolidate command on the Data menu, a dialog box appears as shown in Figure 11-3. In the All Reference locations box, select the source range you want to change.
in the Reference Location box, edit the reference. Select the Add button. If you do not want to retain the original reference, select the Delete button. Use the new source area to consolidate the calculation and press the OK button.
11.2.3 Deletes a reference to a source range
steps to delete a source region reference are as follows:
Select the target area of the existence. Select the merge Calculation command on the Data menu and a dialog box like Figure 11-3 appears.
in the All Reference locations box, select the source range you want to delete.Select the Delete button. Use the new source area to consolidate the calculation and press the OK button.
11.2.4 Establish a link to source data
The following procedure we assume that the consolidated table has not previously established a link. To establish a link to the source data, the steps are as follows:
(1) Execute the Consolidate command on the Data menu, and a dialog box like Figure 11-3 appears.
(2) Select the link to Source selection box.
(3) Press "OK" button.
Note: If the worksheet containing the target area also contains an outline or a combined calculation for a link, the target worksheet will be corrupted if we do not remove the outline and link formulas. Therefore, to check the consolidation before the link is established, do a merge without links, and then merge the links.
